Engineering Applications of Powder Metallurgy
DATE & TIME:
Thursday, 21st March 2013
9:00am – 1:00pm
VENUE:
Oulton Hall, Rothwell Lane, Oulton, Leeds, LS26 8HN
COST:
This event is free for Membership Plus members of the AMRC Forum (NAMTEC Manufacturing Forum), Tier 1 & Tier 2 AMRC Members and TIG members and £30 inc. VAT for other members and non-members.
DETAILS:
Sometimes viewed as an expensive and difficult process, powder metallurgy based manufacturing is enjoying a resurgence of interest. A drive for near net shape, increased component complexity and more predictable / uniform properties is increasing the potential application of powder metallurgy as the manufacturing route of choice across many sectors.
This event, populated by some of the UK’s leading exponents in the field, will illustrate the range of powder processes on offer and the potential they have for high integrity, near net components which are becoming increasingly used in product applications for aerospace, transport, power generation and medical.
The day will be opened with a presentation by John Dunkley, Chairman of Atomising Systems and Chair of the Particulate Engineering Committee of the IOM3 and co-editor of the Powder Metallurgy magazine. John will then be followed by presentations from leading organisations including Rolls-Royce, Bodycote, Beckett MIM, Egide, Laser Cladding and the Mercury Centre.
This is a key manufacturing technology which is finding and increasing focus across many key sectors through a unique set of performance advantages. An awareness of the potential will be invaluable for many manufacturing companies both from the perspective of a potential manufacturing route but also from possible future competitiveness with more current manufacturing processes.
